Over 30 Years Practice. Millions Helped. Unmatched Outcomes.

TRT offers stress and anxiety recovery coaching for individuals, athletes, sports clubs, team staff and visiting squads. Compare sports psychology and TRT coaching

Looking for sports psychology or an alternative for anxiety?

Sports psychology, mental-performance coaching and anxiety-recovery coaching are not interchangeable services. If fear, anxiety or stress is why you are searching, explore the TRT coaching approach and how it differs. Suitability is considered individually; it is not a universal replacement for psychological or medical care.

01 / How TRT works

TRT deactivates the body's threat response.

An ordinary errand feels hard. A meeting keeps you up at night. You might also play sport, but your anxiety doesn't have to be about sport.

TRT takes a structured look at the biological survival response and the patterns that can keep it on high alert. Through the Human Stability Framework, we work with the response rather than treating coping as the destination.

For anyone

Your anxiety is about your life.

Panic, OCD, phobias, health anxiety or an eating disorder can affect anyone, including someone who trains or competes. We won't assume sport is the cause or that performance is the goal.

Speak with a qualified TRT Therapist about your anxiety, session options and the next step towards recovery.

02 / Areas of support

Anxiety in everyday life, at work or in sport.

We start with what's happening to you. Sport may be part of your life without being the source of your anxiety.

01 / In everyday life

Anxiety, panic, phobias & OCD

You might be living with persistent worry, panic, social or health anxiety, phobias, OCD or an eating disorder. Tell us what's happening in your life; you don't need to fit a sporting label.

02 / At work

Workplace stress & anxiety

The meeting you dread. The responsibility you carry home. The feeling that you cannot switch off. Work-related pressure deserves more than being told to push through.

03 / For people who play sport

Anxiety beyond the game

Playing sport doesn't mean your anxiety is about sport. You can ask about panic, OCD, phobias or worry that affects everyday life. If the yips or competition nerves matter to you, we can talk about those too.

Images illustrate settings and activities; the people pictured are not presented as clients.

Concerns people bring to us

Anxiety, OCD, eating disorders and more.

Start with what matters to you. Your TRT Therapist takes time to understand your experience and explain the recovery process.

  • Generalised anxiety & persistent worry
  • Panic attacks & panic disorder
  • Social anxiety
  • Health anxiety
  • Agoraphobia
  • Specific phobias
  • OCD-related intrusive thoughts & compulsions
  • Eating disorders
  • Sport & performance anxiety
  • Workplace anxiety

You can also enquire about trauma-related stress. The yips and new or persistent movement difficulties can have other causes and should also be medically assessed.

This is not an exhaustive list or a promise of a cure. TRT is not a diagnosis or a substitute for medical or emergency care. Suitability and outcomes vary.

03 / The method

How the Human Stability Framework works.

An ordinary Tuesday, a presentation, a match: anxiety can show up in many places. We start with the person, not an assumption about where it comes from.

06 / Common questions

TRT: who it is for and what to expect.

A good first conversation makes space for questions, context and an honest discussion of fit.

Ask about TRT
What is Threat Recalibration Therapy?

TRT™ is a structured intervention developed by The Institute of Applied Psychophysiology. It works with the biological survival response and the patterns that can keep threat reactions active, using the Human Stability Framework as its guiding model.

What concerns can I ask about?

Speak with us about generalised anxiety, panic attacks or panic disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety, agoraphobia, specific phobias, sport and performance anxiety, workplace anxiety, OCD-related anxiety or trauma-related stress. We welcome individuals as well as athletes and teams. Your first conversation focuses on your experience, recovery needs and any other support you receive.

What if I play sport but my anxiety has nothing to do with it?

You can still ask about coaching. Athletes can live with panic, OCD, phobias, persistent worry or other anxiety-related concerns that are not caused by sport. We focus on you as a person, not on fixing your performance. You don't need to play sport to get in touch either.

Can I ask about the yips or performance anxiety?

Yes. If a familiar movement has become difficult under pressure, or anxiety is affecting training or competition, tell us what is happening. The yips can have different causes, so a new or persistent movement difficulty should also be assessed by a qualified health professional. We cannot promise a particular sporting outcome.

Do I need to be an athlete?

No. TRT Therapy is for individuals, local residents, athletes training or playing along the coast, and businesses seeking a structured approach to human stability. You do not need a sporting background to enquire.

How can I take part?

Intervention may be delivered online, one-to-one, in a group setting, or residentially. The suitable format depends on your circumstances and the nature of the work; we can discuss options in an initial conversation.

Is this a quick fix or a guaranteed outcome?

No outcome or timeframe can be guaranteed. TRT is a structured intervention, not a promise of a particular result. We explain the process clearly and discuss fit, expectations and appropriate support before you decide.
